Provincial Chapters

British Columbia
The British Columbia chapter has a small group of committed volunteers. Each year several meetings are arranged where speakers present topics of interest to patients dealing with bone marrow failure diseases.

For more information, please contact: Janice Cook, bc@aamac.ca

Alberta

The Alberta Chapter works within local communities supporting families and patients with aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and PNH by distributing information and through fund raising efforts.

We recognize the desire for peer support for patients and family members dealing with these diseases and are able to put them in contact with others that have been effected with these illnesses and are willing to speak with them about their own experiences and help them through the journey.

The chapter meets at least once a year in a formal setting with presentations from experts in the field of bone marrow failure diseases or other related topics. In addition to this, support groups are formed and meet informally in our communities as they are needed.

We also participate each fall in a campaign to increase the awareness of these rare diseases that have infected too many Canadians each year.

The Chapter also offers support for people from Saskatchewan and Manitoba that are dealing with these disorders.

If you require support in your area or are interested in becoming involved in the Chapter please contact us at the address below and we would be happy to support you in every way we can.

Ontario
The Ontario chapter hosts regular support group meetings in Toronto, Kingston, and Ottawa for myelodysplasia, aplastic anemia, and PNH patients and their families. During the annual Aplastic Anemia and Myelodysplasia awareness week the third week in October, volunteers raise awareness about the importance of blood and bone marrow donors. Throughout the year, the chapter and its members hold fundraisers to support education, support and research including an annual dinner dance and silent auction each spring.

For more information, please contact info@aamac.ca or in Ottawa, contact Bob Ross, cell number: 613-882-2416.

Atlantic
The Atlantic chapter normally meets on the last Wednesday of each month, except in July and August, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Our meetings are held at the Atlantica Hotel on Robie St. Please e-mail or call Robert to confirm you'll be attending.

If a meeting in Halifax is too far out of the way for you, please contact us and we will attempt to find someone in your area with whom you can speak: David McFarlane: 902-441-7344; atlantic@aamac.ca or Robert MacDonald: 902-443-1615
